How to Measure Your Child's Feet for the Perfect Fit
Choosing the right size shoes for your child is crucial to ensure comfort and proper support. To help you find the best fit, we’ve put together a simple step-by-step guide on how to measure your child's feet at home. Remember, we do not accept returns on shoes that have been worn, so please be sure to check the fit carefully before wearing. Here’s how to measure correctly:
Step 1: Gather the Right Tools
You will need:
- A flexible measuring tape or ruler (preferably one that is at least 12 inches or 30 cm long).
- A piece of paper and a pen or pencil.
- A flat surface (floor or a hard, level surface).
- A pair of socks that your child would wear with their shoes (if applicable).
Step 2: Have Your Child Stand
Make sure your child is standing straight, with their weight evenly distributed on both feet. This ensures that the foot is in its natural, fully extended position.
Step 3: Measure the Length of the Foot
- Place a piece of paper on the floor and have your child stand on it with their heel against the wall.
- Using the measuring tape, measure the length of the foot from the tip of the big toe to the back of the heel.
- Make sure the measuring tape is straight and that the number "0" starts at the tip of the big toe, not the side or top of the toe.
- For accuracy, mark the longest part of the foot on the paper with a pencil and then measure from that mark to the back of the heel.
Step 4: Measure Both Feet
Children’s feet are often slightly different in size. Measure both feet and use the larger measurement when determining the shoe size. This will help ensure that the shoes fit comfortably and don't pinch.
Step 5: Refer to Our Size Chart
Once you have both foot measurements, refer to our Size Guide to select the best shoe size. If your child’s foot measurement is between two sizes, we recommend sizing up to allow for growth, especially if they have wide feet.
Step 6: Consider Your Child's Foot Width
If your child has wide feet, we strongly recommend sizing up. This will provide extra space for comfort and prevent the shoes from being too tight. If you’re unsure, feel free to contact us for additional guidance.
Important Tips:
- Different Brands, Different Sizes: Be sure not to order the same size shoes from our brand as you would with other brands, as sizing can vary significantly between brands. Always measure your child’s feet first, and order based on the measurement rather than their current shoe size in another brand.
- Check the Fit: Before allowing your child to wear the shoes outside, check that they fit comfortably. Shoes should feel snug but not tight, with enough space for the toes to move freely.
- Condition of Shoes: We do not accept returns for shoes that have been worn. Please ensure that the shoes are in new condition if they don’t fit, as we cannot accept worn shoes for exchange or return.
